Selanne Steak Tavern brings the spirit of much-loved classic American steakhouses and taverns to California’s iconic Laguna Beach along Pacific Coast Highway.

The proprietors are Teemu Selanne, hockey legend and NHL star player for the Anaheim Ducks, and Kevin Pratt. The two are friends and neighbors who share a commitment to making their restaurant a place for friends and families to enjoy great food and libations in a comfortable, appealing eatery. To make this all happen, Executive Chef Joshua Severson creates his distinctive version of contemporary American steakhouse fare and Pastry Chef Heather Fisher pleases diners with her playful, retro-treats. To complete our team is longtime restauranteur Leo Fenn III, Director of Operations, who oversees our extensive wine program as well as all restaurant operations.

Entering into Selanne Steak Tavern, guests walk through a hand-carved wood door into an elegant foyer anchored by a sleek Carrara marble fireplace updated from the original brick fireplace that was part of the historic 1934 Pacific coast cottage that now houses the restaurant. The interior, designed by Bliss Home & Design in Corona del Mar, is a handsome amalgam of old and new, incorporating wide-planked oak floors, whimsical accents, a recycled parts chandelier and local abstract art created by Laguna Beach artist, Nick Gaetano.

Chef Severson’s dishes, artisan cocktails, selections from our wine list (focused on California cult wines and other highly-rated, world class wines), and a selection of beers are all to be enjoyed in any of our 5 classic dining settings. The Loft - our upstairs dining room, The Wine Library, downstairs in The Tavern, or outside on The Veranda or Sunset Terrace. Specialty dishes include a starter of wagyu beef tartare accompanied by fingerling chips, wild rocket and quail eggs. Our featured steaks range from filet mignon and New York strip to rib eye and the 32 oz "Lord Stanley" cut of wagyu beef all served with the chef’s seasonal marrow butter and Bordelaise sauce. Everyone’s favorite side is Selanne’s Mac and Cheese – a decadent five-cheese fondue topped with brioche crumbs.
