Game 6 - Bronze Medal Game

Finland vs USA

Feb 22, 2014: After a tough loss to rival Sweden, Finland faced the originally-gold-medal-favored US team. With Tuukka Rusk returning to net as goaltender, the USA couldn't score. And with Teemu on fire in his final Olympic appearance, Finland was unstoppable. After a scoreless first period, Teemu Selanne again brought his team ahead with a shot in the second, quickly followed by another goal by Jokinen. Finland ran the third period, and Teemu scored another goal -- his second of the game -- to cap his sixth Olympics, helping bring Finland to Bronze with a 5-0 shutout of the Americans. Teemu's 4th medal (he already has a silver and 2 bronzes), and brought him to 24 goals, 43 points, and 37 Olympic hockey games as the Olympic all-time leader in points, with 43 (24+19) at age 43 the oldest Olympic hockey medal winner. Looks like it's not just #8 that's lucky anymore.

Teemu, your family, friends, teammates and customers at Selanne Steak Tavern rooted for you, congratulate you, and cannot wait to see you back at home!

2/20 Teemu's Note to the Tavern

"Hi everyone and greetings from the Olympic Games! It’s been an unbelievable first class week so far. Well, no steaks like ours, but everything else. Now the real games start…making the final four is awesome! The Dream is still alive – Go Finland"-- Teemu Selanne

Game 4 - Quarterfinals

Finland vs Russia

Feb 19, 2014: In a huge upset, Finland ended Russia's chances for gold -- for any medal, in fact -- in hockey. The defeat is considered by some as one of the largest disasters in Russian Olympic history, and is heartbreaking for many Russians. All the more reason for the Finns to celebrate. In the first period, Granlund centered to Selanne, who slipped the puck past the Russian goaltender to give the go-ahead goal in this epic game. In the second, Granlund scored on Selanne assist. (Interesting trivia: Granlund was born just following the 1992 Olympics -- in which Teemu played.) Congratulations on the impressive win, Teemu, from your (other) team at Selanne Steak Tavern!

Game 3

Finland vs Canada

(above) Teemu Selanne, as Finnish team captain, greets Canada's captain prior to a hard-fought game.

Despite a full-speed spill into the boards in the first period, Teemu and the Finnish team fight to a hard 1-1 tie with Canada in regulation. Canada comes back in overtime to win 2-1, putting Finland in the 4th seed in the semifinals. Finland is scheduled to play Russia on February 19th.

Game 2

Norway vs Finland

Teemu scores the first goal of the game, setting the stage for Finland's ultimate 6 to 1 rout of Norway. It was Selanne's 21st Olympic career goal ever -- bringing him to 39 career points (18 assists) in 33 Olympic hockey games.

With this goal, Teemu became the oldest player to ever score in Olympic hockey history.

Game 1

Finland vs Austria

Despite playing the end of the game with the team Captain (Selanne) out due to injury, Finland puts up 52 shots on Austria to bring Finland to an 8-4 win. Despite just eight shifts before neck/shoulder problems, Teemu came up with an assist, a shot on goal, and 5:27 time on ice. Full Story >
